The Bible makes me to understand that one of the most dangerous parts of the body is the tongue. The tongue is the organ that one needs to tame very well. Whatever comes out of our tongues has a long way in determining our future.

Recently, I heard that a man told some people that when he clocks seventy years old, that God should take his life.

Amazingly, the man died a week ago at seventy. That is to tell us that our tongue is dangerous, we should be careful of what goes into it and what goes out of it.

We shouldn’t talk carelessly or wrongly, because nobody knows the spirit that is passing around at that moment to hold that word against you.

The book of James chapter 3 talks about the tongue explicitly. James 3:5 says: ‘’ By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.’’

The verse has made us to understand the effect of an unguarded speech or better still, a tongue.

Let’s try as much as possible with the help of God, to confess positively and not negatively. When there are situations around us that are bad, we can confess God’s promises about us.

Let’s watch what we tell our colleagues at work, friends, siblings and parents. If we are the type of people whose mouth always rush like tap water, let’s try to adjust.

People would say and I quote that, ‘Out of the multitudes of words, there lies an offence.’’ In order for us not to sin against God, let’s painstakingly try to bridle our tongue and watch whatever comes out of it. Let us also learn to ask for help from the holy spirit. We should also be intentional about saying the right words at all times.

Always try to remember that, the words that you speak can either make or mar your future.
