THE IMPROMPTU TEST

While in the secondary school, most of us students disliked impromptu tests- test done without preparation or planning.

After like two weeks of resumption when most students would be warming up and looking down on the few pages of notes, any teacher could just come into the class and say: ‘Tear a sheet of paper!’

The mention of that alone would make everyone to grumble. Some teachers would pardon us while some would insist that we write the tests. Those teachers will record those tests straight up without conducting any remedial or make-up tests.

However, whenever some teachers pity us and postpone the test, some students would not be happy. Why?

They were the kinds of students that had a goal and an objective. They would not wait for their notes to be wide and voluminous before they start reading their books. Those students were the ones that were calm and joyful whenever exam times approached.

On the other hand, most students wait till few days to the exam to start burning midnight candles. They become so scared during exam times. Some would even end up in the sick bay.

…………..

The short story above explains that there are two kinds of people in this world. Both of them know that there is something called rapture. They know that there is hell and heaven and they know what to do if they want to make heaven.

The first set prepares adequately for the impromptu arrival of Jesus. They know that the trumpet could sound at any time and they know that they cannot afford to miss the rapture. They start studying and meditating on the Word of God, obeying God’s word and praying.

They do all they can to make God happy with them. They know that the coming of God is imminent and they wouldn’t want to fail by going to hell. They are those people that are happy when Christ eventually appears.

On the other hand, the other set feels that Jesus isn’t coming again or He is coming farther than one can imagine. They abandon studying the word of God and praying. They become annoyed whenever anyone tells them anything about the last days. They allow themselves to be distracted by the earthly things of the world. When the trumpet eventually sounds, they start weeping and gnashing their teeth in hell. They start saying, ‘’ How I wish I was …….’’

Christ coming is imminent. Its just like the impromptu test that the wise ones prepares for adequately which the foolish one toys with. Christ’s coming will be like the ten virgins in the scripture. They both waited for the bridegroom which is Jesus Christ to come. Five of them were wise, they took extra oil in their lamp i.e extra holiness, prayer and the reading of the bible. They were confident when the bridegroom eventually came.

The foolish virgins were not adequately prepared, they were scared and disorganized when the bridegroom came. They tried to borrow some oil from the wise virgins but their request was not granted unto them. They received condemnation and they were thrown into hell.

As Christians, lets be prepared because Jesus Christ is coming soon, nobody knows when but the Bible says that Jesus is coming like a thief in the night. A time that no one knows.

May God give us the grace to be watchful and prayerful as we expect the coming of the Lord in jesus name.

I hope that we are inspired by this short piece. Don’t forget to leave me a comment. Thanks for reading.
