MY OLD REPORT CARD

WRITTEN BY: EUNICE ISEOLUWA OYEKUNLE

Loads of books fill my house.

One day, my sister and I thought that we should painstakingly arrange those books according to how important they were.

Those books like notebooks, exam question papers and many papers that we felt were not necessary were thrown into the bin.

The work of arranging those books scared me at first, but it later became fun when we started seeing our old jotters and journals that we wrote many years back. We became nostalgic as the old times came flooding into our memories.

My sister spotted one of my exam scripts. She told me that I could keep it for future purpose. But when I saw the subject and the score, I felt bad and dejected. It was a very poor score.

’This is a bad score, why should I keep it for future use’’? I asked, a frown etched on my forehead.

‘’You had this score about three years ago, but that was then. You have grown to be a smart young lady’’

Those words really encouraged me . I was happy that things were no longer the same again.

I have passed through failure, no wonder why I am enjoying success now.

———————————————————-

As God’s children, our pasts should never limit us. It is what we are at the present that really determines the real us.

Devil might bring bad memories to you but don’t be discouraged. You can defeat the Devil through positive thinking. You can conquer him by reminding him of God’s word concerning you.

Tell him that: ‘’I count myself not to have apprehended but one thing I do is to forget the past….’’

The bible also says, ‘’ Remember not the former things for I will do a new thing and it shall spring forth. I will make a way in the wilderness….’’

Don’t let your past define you, let the word of God define you. Your past and future have no correlation, they are two parallel lines that can never meet.

No one cares about whatsoever might have happened in your past, It is the improvement and progress that you are making in your present life that matters.

Let your mindset be filled with positive thinking.

‘’You are a champion’’

‘’You are better and greater than they think’’

‘’All things are working out for your good’’

I hope that we are all blessed by this short piece.

God bless you all!
