TEN THOUGHTFUL NUGGETS THAT KEEP ME GOING IN LIFE
WRITTEN BY: EUNICE ISEOLUWA OYEKUNLE
There are ten nuggets that I would like to share with you today.
They have helped me so much in life, they are still helping you and I am sure they will inspire and motivate you to be a better version of yourself.
Here they are:
1. NEVER JUDGE A PERSON BASED ON WHAT YOU HEARD:
Do not judge a person based on what people say. Before you start condemning other people, try and find out if what you were told about the person is true or false and perhaps it is true, you have no right to judge any person. Don’t forget the Word of God that says, ‘’Judge not, that ye be not judged.’’. Matt 7 verse 1. You can try to read further. May God help us to obey His word.
2. BE CAREFUL OF WHAT FLOWS INTO YOUR MIND:
Our mind is a very sensitive part of our being. It’s like a magnet that gets attached to things easily. Lets be careful of the books we read, the movies we watch, the places we go to and the people we interact with. Those things can easily influence us. Let’s feed on positive things. P:S A healthy mind is a healthy life. Whatever you are today is a product of what you conceived in your mind.
3. HATRED AND BITTERNESS RUIN:
There is one thing about me that my friends can attest to and that is the fact that, I am very blunt. If anyone offends me, I will say it straight to that person’s face. Sometimes, I wonder about some people that keep grudges for days, weeks, months and even years. I would then ask myself that, ‘’How long is life that I will start spending it on hatred and bitterness which in turn leads to malice and grudges. Hatred and bitterness are also heavy loads that can deprive one of fuffilling God’s plans for one’s life.
4. IF YOU ARE FACING ANY DIFFICULT SITUATION, ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION, ‘’WOULD THIS MATTER TO ME IN THE NEX COUPLE OF MONTHS OR YEARS?
What I am trying to explain here is the fact that troubles and difficulties have a time limit. It is a phase in one’s life that will not last. There is a quote that says, ‘’tough time never lasts but tough people do’’. During your difficult moments, let your attention be on God. The fact that those difficulties are just for a while and they are to make us stronger is something that should motivate us.
5. NEVER BE A PEOPLE PERSON:
One of the lessons that I have learnt in life is to never be a people person. Your life shouldn’t be ruled or controlled by man. No wonder the Bible says, ‘’who is man that you are mindful of him?’’. Whenever you want to do something- maybe you want to study a course, learn a skill or marry, never ask the question, ‘’what would people say?’’ rather ask, ‘’what would God say?’’. Man might not be happy with the choices we make but if God is in it, we have no reason to fear. Living to please man is wrong and it isn’t biblical. Let’s deviate from it. May God help us in Jesus name.
6.DARE TO BE DIFFERENT:
One thing I have discovered among some youths is the fact that they are scared of standing out among their colleagues. But do you know what? You and I were created to be unique and different. We do not have the same finger prints, family background, composition, way of life etc. In your school, work and place, dare to be different. God is not looking for those that hide in the midst of crowds, He needs someone that can be able to stand strong against all odds. Assuming Joseph wasn’t the different one amongst his brothers, he might not have risen to become a governor in potiphar’s house. Also, Daniel was different. In Babylon, his colleagues ate and drank they grew fat but Dniel dared to be different. He purposed in his mind that he will not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat. No wonder he was ten times better than his counterparts. God is looking for a different man to use in this generation.
7. KEEP TRYING:
There is a saying that: ‘’If you try to do something and you fail, try it again and better still, use another method.” It is so saddening that some people are not successful because they give up at the slightest failure or disappointments that they have. That you failed in something doesn’t make you a failure and it doesn’t mean that you are lesser than other people. The fact that you failed and started all over is a sign that you are on your way to living a successful life. Never stop at failure. Let perseverance and consistency keep driving you.
8. NEVER UNDERRATE YOURSELF:
Anytime the Devil tries to make me feel that I am less important, I tell him to shut up. I also tell myself that ‘I am who I am, I can’t change myself, I can only improve on myself. Never listen to the Devil’s lie about you, God’s word about you matters the most. Never allow anybody or circumstances make you feel less of yourself. Be you, because the way you carry yourself is the way people will carry you too.
9. SHUN ENVY
As human beings, we are prune to envy our mates or colleagues that seem to be doing better than we are. But through the grace of God, we can turn that envy into loving and appreciating them. Envying them will not allow us to grow, it will only take away the time that is meant to be spent on doing productive things. We can also try to shun envy by learning from those that are ahead of us. One thing that I know is that, in life, some people will definitely do better than you and vice-versa.
10. BE HAPPY:
Happiness is free and intentional. You can choose to be happy and you can choose otherwise. No matter what happens to us, let’s try to be as happy as we can. Life is short, it shouldn’t be spent in self pity and depression.
N.B: Jesus Christ is the source of true happiness, not man, money or love. Have you accepted Him yet? Never postpone the day of your salvation because tomorrow might be too late.
May God help us all to live a godly, healthy and productive life. May we not miss Heaven at last in Jesus name .
Thanks for reading to the end.
